It was in portraiture that Phill Jackson really made his name in London, where he was a highly sought-after photographer. His style and use of lighting got him noticed in commercial and advertising circles, and this soon extended to working with celebrities and corporate leaders – even royalty.
Portraits were Phill’s first passion in photography and remain so, with his images standing out from the pack. When photographing more than one person, for example, Phill individually lights each subject, treating the scene as a group of connecting portraits rather than one overall image. This approach produces more visually interesting images and gives his work a distinct point of difference.
Phill has photographed Queen Elizabeth II, along with A-list celebrities such as Sienna Miller, Ewan McGregor, Vinnie Jones, Christian Slater and Michael Parkinson.
In the political and business arena, his subjects have included British Prime Ministers, cabinet ministers, heads of state and corporate leaders.
